About

Steve Swenson

Steve has spent 26 years with the South Dakota Highway patrol, living the past 19 years in Lincoln County.  In addition to being awarded for his law enforcement service, Steve has given back to our community through a life of volunteering  and investment of personal time to help Lincoln County families.  A member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Steve has given presentations to local Girl Scouts and has participated in the Shop with a Cop program.  Steve has served as a volunteer for Special Olympics,  and he has spent time serving at The Banquet, and worked with a local non-profit to give birthday gifts to kids in need.  Steve has been a coach of youth sports for many years, serving as a role model of community participation and leadership. Being a dedicated  father is Steve’s passion.

Steve Swenson would continue to expand community policing by building stronger dialogue between residents of Lincoln County and law enforcement.

Steve will make it a priority to have increased law enforcement presence and patrols during key times when our kids are traveling to and from school.

Steve will work with county and state officials to address the jailing needs for Lincoln County brought on by community growth, with a strong focus on work release and treatment.

Steve believes in mentorship, and believes that you should never ask your workforce to do anything you wouldn’t do yourself.

The opiod and methamphetamine problem is at a crisis level.  We need focused law enforcement to work with prosecutors and the judiciary to work for better solutions.

Steve’s favorite role in life is being a father.  Protecting our kids and grandkids will be his top priority.
